We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Data Governance Senior Specialist to join our Newton Data team. This role is located in London – HYBRID.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the global Data Office at Newton Investment Management. The role will provide input into the definition and execution of Newton’s data strategy, delivering data solutions, leading data governance operations data change and data issue management and ensuring Newton colleagues comply with all data policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Governance Projects – support the implementation and maintenance of Newton’s data governance framework in conjunction with the BNY Mellon Data Strategy Group and Newton’s Project and Technology teams.
  • Act as a central coordination point and respond to all Newton project data and change related requirements and issues, supporting and /or challenging as appropriate.
  • Manage / test the instrument classification change process with BlackRock to ensure data consumers within Newton’s requirements are implemented accurately.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of the Newton Data Catalogue by ensuring all change is accurately reflected and recorded.
  • Data Strategy – support the development and enhancements to the Newton data strategy, taking into consideration business requirements, ongoing projects, market standards, technology capabilities and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Quality Assurance
  • Provide assurance that data quality is effectively managed through the enforcement of cross functional practices for cleansing and maintenance of data quality including the identification of business consumers data quality requirements.
  • Work with technology and business teams to implement data quality tools and data quality contracts between data producers and consumers.
  • Ensure that data quality exceptions are managed and that future preventative measures / controls are introduced where necessary.
  • Monthly Management Reporting on data quality metrics to the Newton Data Oversight Groups.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Hands-on experience in either Data Management / Business Analysis or Data Analysis from within an Asset Management business or from within a Data Governance office
  • Hands-on experience of using Collibra Data Catalogue, Collibra Data Quality and BlackRock Aladdin advantageous
  • Hands-on experience in producing reporting and documenting data requirements for stakeholders
  • Experience of working with stakeholders to understand their data requirements. The individual needs to be autonomous and comfortable in approaching business teams with queries.
  • An understanding of how to approach analysing data in current systems and documenting the relationships of business data that resides in multiple system
