About usThe Governance Team, which is led by the University Secretary, is responsible for UCL’s governance operations and frameworks; it facilitates and ensures effective decision-making. The work of the Team covers both academic and institutional governance, as well as supporting the University Management Committee (UMC) and its structures. The Governance Team is an expert team providing dedicated advice and support to those involved in UCL’s leadership and governance and ensuring the effectiveness of decision-making.About the roleAs Governance Manager you will be responsible for supporting key UCL committees. This will include attending meetings and writing minutes. You will also support the planning of committee business overall, and the review of committee responsibilities and functions. There will also be responsibility for line management.This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dynamic team with a commitment to promoting excellence in governance practices and an ethos of continuous improvement. It is also a chance to join a key department in one of the world’s top universities, providing essential support to an organisation which is leading the way in research and teaching.A full range of duties can be found on the attached job spec.About youThings you’ll need for this job include:-Strong communication skills--An ability to absorb, understand and summarise complex information-Report-writing or committee servicing experience at a senior level, including dealing with complex and sensitive matters-An excellent understanding of the governance structures within Higher Education or a similar environment.If you also have line management experience then that’s great.
