Duties and Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Visual Communication Designer will be responsible for the following: • Standardized templates for business cards and email signatures, OCHA PowerPoint Presentations, brochures, posters, and social media assets. • Support Pooled Funds report template including redesigning lay-out, chart templates, annual report launch and distribution, social media templates; support field office graphics consultation, funds promotion, creating infographics, logos and preparing graphics for web. • Develop high-quality visualization information products and participate in information management. • Design interactive websites and animations. • Maintain brand consistency: Ensure that all visual materials produced adhere to OCHA’s branding guidelines, maintaining consistency in design elements, color schemes, and typography to strengthen OCHA’s visual identity. • Stay updated on design trends and technologies.

Qualifications/special skills

A first-level university degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or related field is required. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design, branding, marketing, information and communication technology, social media, or related area is required. Experience with Adobe software, including Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop is required. Experience with development of templates and guidelines on digital tools is required. Experience in web design UX/UI and knowledge of Figma is desirable. Experience in the UN Common System or other comparable international organization is required.

Languages

For the position advertised, fluency in English, French and Arabic languages is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Additional Information

Within the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Branch, the Donor Visibility Unit (DVU) leads donor visibility & recognition efforts for a broad range of donors and partners who support humanitarian action through OCHA and the Pooled Funds. Promoting the value of flexible funding, DVU helps donors illustrate the value of their support by producing compelling human stories, high quality reports and infographics to showcase impact and results. The Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) is OCHA’s communications and public advocacy team supporting headquarters and field operations in public outreach on humanitarian action. The Design and Multimedia Unit (DMU) of the Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) leads the development of OCHA’s visual information services and products. The consultant will work with the DVU and the DMU under the supervision of the respective Heads of Unit.
