A fantastic opportunity has opened up with one of my key clients here at Morgan Mckinley as their Transport Manager for their Cork distribution centre.The successful candidate will be joining one of Irelands largest food service providers who specialise in distribution right across the country. As Transport Manager you will be responsible for a team of 60 colleagues, including 2 shift managers, administrators, truck and van drivers and helpers.This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping them maintain their core philosophies – keeping the customer at the heart of everything they do.Key Responsibilities:
Provide general management and overall leadership to a team of section managers, team leaders, and colleagues across all logistics activities, aligning with strategic KPIs.
Ensure Transport Management develops and maintains strong teams to achieve consistent long-term growth.
Continuously monitor and evaluate available data to optimize performance and customer delivery service.
Identify opportunities and implement initiatives for continuous improvement in processes, quality, consistency, and effectiveness.
Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture where every team member understands their role in contributing to organizational goals.
Coordinate all transport activities to ensure the smooth operation of the depot.
Oversee the efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers daily.
Liaise effectively with sales, transport, and operation departments to resolve issues promptly.
Collaborate with Sales teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery schedules.
Ensure all company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and operated safely to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand.
Maintain Transport Compliance to industry-leading standards.
Identify, coordinate, and deliver appropriate training.
Ensure strict adherence to Security and Health & Safety Procedures at all times.
Requirements:
3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive multi-drop distribution operation
Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous
Must possess a full Drivers Licence, Management CPC advantageous
Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service
Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business
Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner
Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data
Fluent English – reading and writing
High level of flexibility and problem solving
Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)
Strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
