Translator (Ukraine)

General Background
GRC possesses unrivaled expertise and granular knowledge of the OPG, its working methodology, and ongoing investigations and prosecutions within the context of the ongoing aggression by the Russian Federation. GRC is the only international organisation consisting of ICL specialists that have been consistently present in Ukraine since 2015, working with the OPG, law enforcement agencies, and CSOs to document international crimes and bring about criminal accountability.

Purpose & Objective
The Translator is responsible for converting written or spoken material from one language to
another while ensuring the preservation of the original meaning, format, and tone.

Duty Station: Office based in Kyiv, Ukraine

Contract Duration: 6 months with probable extension

Responsibilities
● Translate legal memoranda, briefs, strategy papers, and handouts from English to Ukrainian and vice versa.
● Assist others during meetings and training providing consecutive interpretation.
● Enhance the capacity of the Ukrainian stakeholders to integrate international law standards in efforts to deal with international crimes;
● Improve the enabling environment to support the use of international law standards and stakeholder involvement as tools to improve the investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of international crimes.

Experience, Knowledge, And Skills
● At least two years of experience in translating written briefs and documents from English to Ukrainian and vice versa.
● University education/ degree in interpretation or translation is an advantage.
● Experience in legal translation and knowledge of legal terminology are assets.
● Respect for confidentiality.
● Exceptional organisational and time management skills and high attention to detail.
● Excellent Ukrainian and English language skills – written and verbal.
