FLI Precast Solutions Ltd. are recruiting for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our busy Commercial team. This role will report to the Commercial Director and is a full-time role. This is a unique role which combines third level study with on-the job training and expert guidance.

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will undertake a company-sponsored diploma/degree in Quantity Surveying on a part-time basis while working in this role. The company will afford the successful candidate sufficient time to manage their studies and sit examinations. The company will invest in developing you into a commercial professional who will be capable of undertaking the commercial management of exciting and complex construction projects in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Time, care and attention will be given to you by our specialised senior management team to develop you into a competent and effective construction professional.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for the construction industry and is interested in pursuing a career in quantity surveying or construction economics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the detailed preparation of sub-contract orders.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly interim valuations.
  • Undertake measurement of completed works.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal monthly reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of remeasures and variations.
  • Assist in the preparation of project cash-flows.
  • Assist members of the commercial team with their duties.
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules and regulations on site.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned but the Commercial Director or their designees.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Construction experience or knowledge is an advantage but not essential.
  • Passion for learning and growth with an openness to learning from others.
  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to drive their own learning and development.
  • Team player with the ability to work with various functions and levels of the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong computer skills, in particular, the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • English language fluency, both written and spoken, is essential.
