The Student Production Engineer – Part Time for Leica Biosystems is responsible he Student Engineer supports the value stream by providing technical support to solve daily production problems and contributes to driving quality improvements in assembly. It is expected that the hours worked will qualify for course requirements for work experience. The role can be full-time during semester breaks and revert to part-time during periods of active study. The contract will nominally be for a calendar year.

This position is part of the Production Engineering Team located in Mount Waverley, Melbourne and will be on-site. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Identify and resolve or contain quality issues within the value stream

• Escalate issues to Engineer, Supplier Quality, Global Support and/or Dojo Quality Board

• Contribute to the development and writing of Process Control Plans (PCPs)

• Ensure accurate entry of assembly and test data into DHF records and supporting the development and building of test equipment and assembly aids to support production

  The essential requirements of the job include:

• Pursuing a tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, mechatronics, electronics, manufacturing)

• Ability and aptitude to assemble, test & troubleshoot electromechanical devices

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear and accurate instructions

  It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience with CAD packages

• Experience in mechanical and/or electronic assemblies

• Programming and/or an interest in automation
