Our Event Platform ingests, transforms and stores events to provide more than 30 Datadog products data retrieved by a query API at a rate of ~15 Million messages/second. With a focus on a high-level of reliability, you will contribute to a platform using Java, Go and bits of Python and Rust. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Event Platform Storage team. Our Event Platform ingests, transforms and stores events to provide more than 30 Datadog products data retrieved by a query API at a rate of ~15 Million messages/second. With a focus on a high-level of reliability, you will contribute to a platform using Java, Go and Rust.

Engineers with a background or interest in the challenges of optimizing distributed systems for durability, high availability, low latency and scalability are encouraged to apply.

This platform provides a scalable, exactly-once, cost-effective, and reliable storage engine for timestamped payloads with a full-featured and fast query engine with multiple integration options.. We have challenges to continue scaling these components and add new features important for our customers. What You’ll Do:

• Build and operate distributed, high-throughput, real-time data pipelines
• Do it in Go and Java, with bits of Python or other languages
• Use Kafka, Kubernetes, FoundationDB, and other open-source components
• Own meaningful parts of our service, have an impact, grow with the company
• Design and architecture the more effective data pipeline using modern architecture
• Write a significant amount of code, lead architectural decisions for new and existing services

 

Who You Are:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Sci/Eng, Math, Physics or equivalent STEM field
• Experience with one or more programing languages (Go, Java, Rust, C++, Python)
• Experience building storage engines, datastores and/or high scale Distributed Systems
• Desire to work in a fast paced, high-growth tech first environment
