Position Summary:

The Senior Engineer, Field Service is responsible for performing pre-installation, installation, acceptance testing, user training, preventative and corrective maintenance on Electron Microscope, Focused Ion Beam systems and related equipment. The Senior Engineer, Field Service utilizes extensive education, product knowledge and experience gained in the industry to:

  • Drive Customer Allegiance through excellent customer relations, consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations

  • Deliver unparalleled customer value through effective communication, problem resolution, and high quality of service.

  • Act as a mentor supporting with staff development, training, and policy and process adherence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission and maintain Thermo Fisher Electron Microscopes, accessories, ancillaries and other related equipment

  • Complete and submit Field Service Reports, Preventative Maintenance and other reports as required

  • Ensure all Key Performance Indicators are met or exceeded

  • Act as a company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned systems and sites

  • Follow technical escalation processes to ensure timely and efficient resolution of difficult problems

  • Develop and maintain excellent communications with other Field Service Engineers and Technical Support personnel

  • Develop and maintain exceptional technical and product knowledge through self-development, company product training and on the job training and experience gained on the most challenging assignments

  • Act as a subject expert and resource for training and provide On-The-Job training and mentoring of other Field Service Engineers.

  • Assist in resolving complex issues raised by other engineers

  • Work with the commercial team in identifying and supporting sales opportunities

  • Drive product quality and reliability improvements by providing feedback to product quality teams

  • Provide the highest levels of support to key customer accounts

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following :

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Physics, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Field Service Engineering in Electron Microscopy is required

  • Advanced technical, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Process oriented, committed to continuous improvement

  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Able to set priorities and consistently meet targets.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally often at short notice

  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident

  • A current driver’s licence
