Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to be part of a team that provides life-cycle management and integration for various IT infrastructures within our control. The team operates and sustains data operations for systems that ingests, tags and audits data sets while maintaining the security, integrity and availability of that data. The team works with our customers and development teams to improve effective and efficient fielding and sustainment of the deployed system’s capabilities. The team applies best-practices toward continuous process improvement to ensure a reliable, flexible, accountable, cost-effective and secure computing environment.

What You Will Do

  • You will perform moderately complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software.
  • You will support architecture integration and recommend products for integration.
  • You will develop system level scripts in various common languages.
  • You will incorporate all security disciplines, recommend and develop requirements, specifications, designs, and procedures to satisfy program security policy and planning guidance.
  • You will monitor the implementation of security requirements for government and industry facilities and systems.
  • You will develop reports, information, and recommendations that support the implementation of government security requirements.
  • You will participate in special projects as required.
  • You will be required to travel 25% of the time CONUS (TX, VA) and OCONUS for system installs.
  • You will have the ability to create well-modularized, maintainable software and willing to follow group coding standards and design. 
  • You will have demonstrated ability to manage teams.
  • You must be able to work collaboratively across agencies and physical locations.
  • You must have the ability to work under aggressive deadlines.

This position can be remote in the US, however travel will be to Sterling, VA or Richardson, TX. A current/active TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to day 1.

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Experience with windows, Linux or Unix operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall Software Development
  • Understanding of security technologies and concepts, experience in design and implementation of secure network solutions including DMZs and web portals
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance and Information Operations technologies and development activities. 
  • Understanding of the processes and guidelines for Certifying & Accrediting (ICD 503/DITSCAP/DIACAP/DCID 6/3) information systems based upon experience on development programs. 
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies
  • Possesses or quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of Government Information Security policies, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Active/Current and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 4+ years of experience
  • Experience supporting Intelligence or DoD.
  • Experience with process development and deployment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, Oracle, MySQL, PHP, Perl, .net, C, C++, C#, XML/XSD/XSLT, JSP/HTML, Groovy, Python for Java
  • Experience with one or more of the following operating systems: Redhat, CentOS, Ubunto, UNIX, LINUX, SunOS, MS Windows, VMWare ESX, Solaris 8-10
  • Experience with one or more of the following Application/Database Servers: JBoss, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server 2005
  • Excellent writing skills

Employee Referral Eligible

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD – 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
