Social and Community Engagement Officer (100 %)

Location: Geneva

Starting date: 1 April

Duration: permanent

The role

We are looking for a Social and Community Engagement Officer to join our corporate Communications & Donor Relations team, based in our international headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Social and Community Engagement Officer will work to strengthen DCAF’s digital presence and social media channels, and support our teams across DCAF and at the corporate level to tell our story in a compelling and inspirational way.

Key areas of operation

  • Continuously improve and adapt DCAF’s social media strategy and content plan to support the organization’s objectives and engagement goal with international peace and security community.
  • Create compelling content tailored for various social media platforms (stories, videos, infographics etc.) that communicates our impact and maintain brand consistency.
  • Plan and manage the social media content calendar, ensuring timely posts and campaigns.
  • Work closely with teams across DCAF to plan and develop content to promote their projects and activities.
  • Develop, track, measure and analyze social media content and digital campaign’s results, adjusting targeting and content to increase reach, engagement, and conversions.
  • Stay updated with social media trends and best practices to keep strategies innovative and competitive.
  • Create and publish the monthly DCAF newsletter.
  • Measure and analyze the newsletter performance to keep high level of engagement with DCAF’s community and support the newsletter’s growth.
  • Support the internal network of communicators with new ideas and best practices for content creation and promotion of their work.

Your experience

  • Three to five years of experience managing social media and developing strategic campaigns to increase community engagement.
  • University degree or equivalent in communications or another relevant field
  • Must have experience collaborating with clients to identify their unique needs and translate those insights into effective, tailored communication campaigns.
  • Proven ability to turn technical information into compelling stories.
  • Strong content strategy and creative skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and understand and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Strong technical skills including video/photo editing, and graphic design. Required knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator). Brevo, Agorapulse and Kapwing is a plus.
  • A commitment to continuous learning about new developments in social media, and a willingness to learn from others.
  • Experience working in non-profit outreach and advocacy, security sector reform and good governance are a plus.
  • English mother tongue is required. French language is helpful.
  • Curiosity and passion for communications and new trends
  • A valid work permit for Switzerland (or Swiss/EU citizenship) at the time of application is a pre-requisite.
