Alstom also supports 66% of the UK fleet through its Services business and is the UK’s leading CP6 signalling & infrastructure provider.Employing 6,000 people across the UK and Ireland, we design, build and test trains at the UK’s largest end-to-end train manufacturing factory in Derby and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, as well as 30 train services depots across the UK&IYour future roleReporting to the Team Leader, You will be a team member, maintaining and repairing Rail Vehicles to laid- down specification. Within the team you will ensure that all rolling stock is maintained in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. As Skilled Service Staff you will be responsible for day-to-day production delivery, by applying a team approach and maintaining open communication with the Team Leader, whilst maintaining productivity and quality standards that make possible effective delivery of the maintenance, and maintaining a positive attitude and ensuring that you are aligned with the team and company goals.We’ll look to you for:

  • Maintain a professional demeanour that reflects commitment to quality, continuous improvement, diversity and respect for individuals
  • Comply with all Safety requirements
  • Follow systems and procedures outlined by company / project manuals
  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are followed
  • Work as directed by and in-cooperation with the Team Leader and comply with all depot protection procedures.
  • Carry out duties according to workload and specifications to meet the delivery schedule.
  • Ensure all job requirements are enacted and recorded.
  • Ensure the completion of all duties with a minimum of waste
  • Report to the Team Leader periodically on work accomplishments, problems, progress, deliverables and work progress
  • Adopt and apply a continuous improvement approach to all duties
  • Interact and assist when necessary to aid the team in resolving issues
  • Work with other team members and maintain good housekeeping standards in work areas
  • You will be capable to accepting training in other skills and carry out duties as required to deliver the work requirement e.g. forklift, vehicle driving, crane operation etc. (if trained and deemed competent)
  • Understand and abide with safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices.
  • Immediately report any inadequate damaged or missing Tooling.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location.

  • Recognised apprenticeship/HNC in mechanical/electrical disciplines or NVQ L3 in mechanical/electrical disciplines.
  • Rail experience preferred but not essential
  • Maintenance experience preferred
