The Site SHE Manager (24 Months Contract) is designed to be fully functional in the 4-Day work week trial.

Job Summary

The Site SHE Manager (24 Months Contract) will provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of safety, health, environment, and wellbeing across a large manufacturing site of over 300 employees. The purpose of this role is to embed change, improve safety, health and environment culture and provide coaching to all levels of site leadership team aligned to the organisational vision and plan.

In addition, the role is responsible for providing direction on the occupational health aspect of wellbeing to functional leadership teams and influencing wellbeing improvements in conjunction with the wider People Leadership Team.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Model best practice leadership by ensuring specialist strategic advice, practical guidance and support is available to the site leadership team across all aspects of health, safety, environment, sustainability, and wellbeing.

  • Providing trusted advisory support and coaching for site teams through engagement and provision of expert advice.

  • Drive a high performing culture through engaging, inspiring and developing capability of the overall site team.

  • Build and develop safety, health, environment, and wellbeing capability across the site to enable the business to meet legislative compliance obligations and achieve company health safety and environmental goals.

  • Build strong, influencing relationships with functional leadership teams.

  • Deliver significant change transformation programs.

  • Maintain an approach that balances a strategic mindset with strong technical knowledge and commercial pragmatism.

  • Build strong rapport and positive relationships with key stakeholders and influencers within the business.

  • Establish and oversee contractor management relevant to safety, health and environment.

  • Successfully lead a small team.

Required :

  • 5-10 yrs relevant knowledge gained through on-the-job learning, especially in the areas of SHE systems management.

  • Strategic leadership experience and competency within a complex organisation.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.

  • Sound people skills with the ability to establish and build on working relationships effectively across all levels of the organisation from site directors to frontline employees.

  • Highly effective communication skills (both oral and written) at all levels including the ability to present information to a range of audiences.

  • Proven ability to manage challenging conversations and situations.

  • Strong working knowledge of national and state safety, health and environment legislation

  • Excellent computer and literacy skills

Desired :

  • Familiar with relevant Australian Standards relating to a Manufacturing Facility. (eg. Confined Spaces, Working at Heights, Management of Contractors, Electrical Standards, Machine Guarding etc)

  • The ability to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy

  • The ability to use data to determine trends and action plans

  • Previous experience with Manufacturing Unionised Workforces
