The Position

Reporting to the Head of Central Finance Australia, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Tax Accountant to come and join our high performing team! Your role as the Senior Tax Accountant will be to provide Subject Matter Expertise on a range of tax matters; guides Human Pharma and Animal Health entities for effective tax governance in all areas of business.

An important part of this role is you will also be tasked to ensure adherence to tax legislation and accurate tax treatment of transactions; prepares and submits tax returns and other reports to legislative bodies in a timely manner.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • As lead Tax Advisor for the company, keep abreast of changes in the tax landscape, report to Head of Central Finance Australia (HOCF) and Finance and Administration Director (FAD) as required and implement process changes to ensure adherence to tax legislation.

  • Collaborate with FAD, HOCF, Head of Business Controlling (HOBC) and external consultants and agencies regarding Transfer Pricing matters and reporting requirements e.g., Country by Country reporting.

  • Update and maintain Tax Governance Strategy and Procedures manuals and bi-annually report to Senior Leadership Team the result of tax risk assessments and propose actions to mitigate risk

  • Prepare and lodge monthly GST and annual FBT, Income Tax and R&D concession returns and collaborate with external tax consultants as required.

  • Monthly tax compliance activities including review of tax-sensitive general ledger accounts and prepare balance sheet reconciliations of tax accounts.

  • Support in month-end and year-end closing activities, reporting to authorities and ROPU Centre

  • Liaise with external auditors during interim and annual audits of company results, specifically balances in tax accounts and calculation of year-end income tax provision and report to Corporate Tax Group using in-house tax software

  • Liaise with GBSC Tax team and business and provide accounting and tax information as required

  • Back up Senior Financial Accountant in managing operations of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and liaising with offshore S2P, A2R and Treasury Shared Services transactional teams

  • Ensure compliance/internal controls levels in the areas of S2P, A2R, O2C.

  • Lead initiatives that enhance business financial literacy and proficiency with relevant processes and tools

  • Maintain local policies, work instructions and controls

  • Lead and/or participate in Finance and cross-functional projects as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Business/Accounting (or other relevant tertiary qualifications) and CPA/CA qualification

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on tax and transfer pricing experience

  • Experience in SAP is required

  • Broad and deep understanding of taxation and accounting practices to provide advisory services and good governance

  • Experience in interacting with Global and local finance teams, external tax advisors, external auditors, Shared Service Centres, lawyers, regulatory agencies (e.g., ATO, OSR)

  • Ability to effectively build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical industry and early experience working in Financial Accounting roles would be beneficial
