The Senior System Engineer for Leica Biosystems is responsible deploying and supporting Active Directory, server (on premise and cloud) projects for the organization, providing support for Windows and Linux Servers, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, servers, backups and other infrastructure equipment.
This position is part of the Information Technology Job family located in Melbourne and will be primarily remote with a minimum of 1 day onsite and at other times as required. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
You will be a part of the global IT team and report to the Manager, IT Systems and responsible for ensuring the IT infrastructure supports the development of the business and structural changes by assessing future needs and proposing changes and enhancements where necessary. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintains Windows and Linux servers (on-prem and cloud based).
Deploys and maintains a consistent DNS, DHCP, GPO strategy globally for our multi-site enterprise.
Develops and applies AD and Server architectural standards and enforces standards globally.
Responds to and resolves issues relating to Servers, DNS, Active Directory, and storage.
Evaluates, recommends and supports all Enterprise Servers, Virtual systems, operating systems and desktop software applications and installations
The essential requirements of the job include:
Associates or bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent work experience in these areas.
Minimum 5-8 years combined experience the following areas: Windows Server Support, Upgrade, and Maintenance (Additional Linux experience a plus); Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM; Microsoft Deployment of DNS/DHCP; Azure Active Directory; Server Backup/Recovery processes (on and off premise)
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time; both domestic and international travel is required depending on location of hardware deployments.
Typical work related travel assignments range 1-2 weeks and as such overnight, out-of-town and/or country stays are required.
Able to work in datacenters or small computer rooms.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Communication – Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization.
Interpersonal Skills – Ability to work with co-workers and customers, both internal and external, at all levels
Presentation Skills – Demonstrated ability to present 1:1 or in-group settings. Delivers a clear and compelling message tailored to the needs of the audience
Initiative – Ability to work well independently and exercise appropriate judgment under general direction from IT Leadership.
