The Code Lifecycle Engineering organization develops software and tools to support all of Workday Application Development and Testing and is extremely passionate about improving developer productivity.As a Senior Software Engineer in our Tooling organization, you will be at the foundation of Workday’s technology, building software that empowers engineering teams to rapidly develop, test and deliver high quality products. Our team currently serves the 2000+ Workday development community by providing scalable testing and development tools that are vital to support an efficient and continuous delivery platform. We have a work environment that is not driven by external product launches, but is driven by the needs of our own development community, which allows us to focus on producing well thought-out solutions that enhance our development environment, automated testing and delivery pipeline.About the RoleWe are looking for a passionate, experienced, Senior Software Developer to help lead our Tooling initiatives and scrum teams in Dublin. We want someone who will be at the forefront of shaping the development and test lifecycle of the other passionate developers who build our Workday Products. You will be in a key position to guide the future direction of the Developer & Testing Ecosystem, so that it will better serve our community of users across Workday into the future.Our team follows a hybrid remote model and is built on collaborative teamwork and trust. We love Slack and Zoom to enable our varied communication models, but also value face-to-face time during the moments that matter to our team.This role is for you if you are…Passionate about technology and building world-class applications and frameworks in a fast paced, fun, agile work environment!A highly skilled OO and/or functional programmer, enthusiastic about applying sound architectural principles to build scalable/performance designsSomeone who is eager to contribute to and lead the scoping, architecture, design, implementation, testing and delivery of key Product featuresInterested in participating in the release planning process by understanding the details of the upcoming features (design, effort, risk, priority, size)Enthusiastic about collaborating with peers and engineering managers and guiding other engineers on the technical designs and implementation of new featureInterested in Product quality and testing methodologies (Unit testing, TDD, BDD, etc)Eager to be an evangelist for our technologies and products – communicate across multiple teams to showcase new features and functionalitiesAbout YouBasic Qualifications:7+ years of Object Oriented and/or Functional Design and Programming (Java, Javascript, Ruby, Scala, etc)Proven ability to take a leadership role in projects, ability to deliver on time working in a fast-paced agile environmentExperience working with automated or web testing softwareBS/MS in Computer Science or related technical fieldOther Qualifications:Strong experience with HTTP, REST, SOAP, XML, JSON and other key web frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)Test focused with good TDD / Unit & System Testing, debugging and profiling skillsExperienced with common IDE, build & CI/CD tools (e.g. IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, maven, Jenkins, TeamCity, Artifactory)Proficient with AWS/Cloud technologies such as EC2, ECS, S3, SQS, Lambda, Kubernetes/DockerGood code review skills and capacity to both provide and act on constructive feedbackExcellent collaboration, communication and leadership skillsOur Approach to Flexible WorkWith Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
