Overview

MEPPI’s Substation Division is looking for a Senior Sales Engineer to develop business by creating customer solutions using division products. while working with region managers, Mitsubishi Electric of Japan, manufacturers’ representatives, among others to obtain orders. The successful candidate will have experience with GIS equipment, power industry sales experience and working with vendors/subcontractors for request for quotes, pricing negotiation, and contract knowledge.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and submit the Company technical and commercial budgetary and firm proposals for products/services in response to customer’s interest, need, and RFQs.
  • Interface with factories, MELCO overseas marketing department, MEPPI’s engineering staff, and other third party suppliers to communicate needs of our markets. Help to influence all company and outside suppliers to create products and services that gain a unique advantage for MEPPI over competition.
  • Define the Company’s product/service solution technology for specific customer opportunities. Develop creative approaches to complex substation engineering design challenges incorporating high MELCO and MEPPI content. Solve mechanical, electrical and structural problems with unique engineering techniques derived from a wealth of experience in substation design.
  • Provide leadership and support for sales engineers who are creating customer proposal negotiations.
  • Organize the preliminary designs created for customer opportunities that have been developed, in a manner that makes the information available to sales and project engineers that need it. Maintain an electronic database regarding bids and provide regular and special reports from database.
  • Conduct technical presentations to customers on the company, our products and our relationship with MELCO.
  • Develop technical and commercial skills necessary to create innovative solutions that feature SSD products for end use customers. Research and use pricing strategies based upon the installed base experience of SSD, as well as through investigation of third party pricing approaches.
  • Develop sales aids and customer presentation material.
  • Develop relationships with key customers and EPCs nationwide, utilizing these relationships to build business with MEPPI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree plus 6 – 9 years’ sales experience in electrical equipment or related fields, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Developed knowledge of substation layouts including structural, electrical and civil engineering details.
  • Developed knowledge of electric utility substation product lines.
  • Advanced written communications skills.
  • Developed interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships with diverse customer and supplier groups.
  • Developed skills in negotiating terms and conditions with customers.
  • Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products.
