What is the opportunity?

The role of Senior Manager – Data & Behavioural Science offers a great opportunity to lead and the Group Customer Analytics (GCA) Data & Behavioural Science team. In a changing market environment, where customer expectations continue to grow and there is an increasing demand for more personalised customer experiences, Group Customer Analytics is leading the change to enable and deliver this personalised experience through data analytics and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

You’ll lead out the Data Science team as part of a collaborative and innovative Leadership Team who strive to support customer contact with the right message for the customer at the right time.

In this role, you will:

  • Play a vital role in running strategic projects across Group Customer Analytics, including predictive modelling and Generative AI. Working closely with senior stakeholders to foster the creation of an innovation and data-driven culture and develop a Behavioural Science unit as part of the Group Customer Analytics team.
  • Ensure that model risk standards are adhered to throughout the full lifecycle of solutions developed and work closely with Second Line Risk on Generative AI use cases.
  • Oversee recruitment, development and retention of resources for the Data Science team and ensure they reach their potential. Identify and integrate new internal and external data sources to improve model accuracy.
  • Use advanced data science methods to transform complex problems into compelling marketing and business solutions and propose and oversee the development of innovative proof of concept solutions using cutting edge AI capabilities.
  • Work with the Bank of Ireland Financial Wellbeing team to develop an approach that looks at the psychology behind financial decision-making in an effort to explain market anomalies and predict irrational financial behaviour.

We are looking for someone who is curious and passionate about data, data science and psychology!

With a very strong track record of developing solutions to solve complex business problems using analysis and predictive models. You have experience using analysis, predictive modelling and AI to drive data-driven decisions in business stakeholders.

A demonstrated ability to translate data analysis into compelling stories and practical insights, and of using data to influence decision making is a must.

You will need to be passionate about using data to create positive interactions with our customers and be a highly motivated and driven individual looking to make a major contribution to the success of analytics within the Bank of Ireland Group.

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out:

  • Leading Analytics-at-scale in a production environment
  • Managing a team of data and behavioural scientists in a highly technical environment
  • A track record of demonstrating the commercial value of data science.

Essential Qualifications

QQI Level 8 Degree in Maths, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Economics, Machine Learning, Analytics or an equivalent quantitative field

The Group Customer Analytics & Transformation team sits within the Group Marketing (GM) function and supports our customers, colleagues and partners across Ireland, UK and Internationally.

To deliver on our vision we utilise internal and external data and apply data analytics, machine learning, technology, and visualisation techniques to maximise the value of this data and deliver positive outcomes for our customers and our business.

The complex challenges the team faces mean there is considerable opportunity for team members to grow and develop both their technical and non-technical skills.

This is a hybrid role with a primary office location of Baggot Plaza, Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration – exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
