Our client requires a Senior Legal Advisor to provide high quality legal advice on a wide range of issues. Areas where advice will be required include regulatory matters, commercial drafting and negotiation, charity law and litigation.You will be responsible for supporting the organisation to fulfil its legal and compliance obligations.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Interpret statutes, statutory instruments, other legal regulation, and best practice to ensure organisational compliance;
  • Proactively engage with the business on projects and activity to identify legal issues and opportunities and propose solutions and other appropriate actions;
  • Proactively assess and evaluate organisational threats/opportunities as a consequence of the legal environment and legislative change;
  • Draft, review, negotiate and administer legal and transactional documentation arrangements for contracts with commercial and other service/product providers;
  • Support the assessment of major contractual obligations to ensure alignment with organisational strategic objectives;
  • Facilitate and support risk management (particularly commercial and legal) by establishing and maintaining standard templates for contractual arrangements with providers and partners;
  • Manage the protection and maintenance of intellectual property rights relating to organisational products and services (including advising on overseas issues) and support and advise the business on the commercial exploitation of those rights;
  • Support the business in reviewing the effectiveness of major contracts to identify areas for development and improvement;
  • Provide in-house expertise on all matters supported by external legal expertise where necessary;
  • Legally represent organisation where required including at tribunals or courts or manage external legal representation where appropriate.

Highly regarded professional body.|Be a trusted member of a growing team.The successful applicant will be a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.Experience in matters pertaining to commercial law, IP, data protection, commercial litigation and employment law is essential, with additional experience in educational regulation and charity law desirable.This role is suitable for individuals who have prior in-house experience, particularly if gained whilst under the employment of another charity or professional body.Our client is a highly regarded awarding and professional body with charitable status. The package on offer includes:

  • A competitive salary ranging from £70,000 to £75,000 depending on experience.
  • A generous benefits package.
  • 35 Hour working week (flexible working may be considered).
  • Hybrid working pattern (1-2 days per week in the office)
