We have an exciting new remote opportunity with our Digital Technology (DT) Digital Manufacturing Applications team for a Senior JAVA Developer – MES.

What You Will Do:

Our idea candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter who will be excited in delivering digital solutions within our MES & MOM enterprise platform as it relates to supporting our manufacturing sites, engine centers, and aftermarket operations worldwide. Specific focus includes the development of enhancements to our MES systems.

This individual will be involved in the delivery of developing, enhancing, and implementing software solutions within Pratt & Whitney’s enterprise Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions, as well as integrations with other enterprise products for our internal Operations customers.

This role will support the development of back-end JAVA code and a custom Windows front end application that uses a mix of JAVA and SQL, troubleshooting of problems related to PW’s MES, resolving systems integration and compatibility issues, and supporting the application life cycle Center of Excellence.

The position is based remotely and due to customer locations in different time zones, customer meetings can occur outside normal business work hours.

Other Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Troubleshooting production and preproduction system changes. Current strategic activities include engaging with; long-term roadmaps for MES, deploying current MES solutions, new site implementations, and integrating with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) enterprise apps. 
  • Assisting with the understanding of internal requirements into a solution design.
  • Technical problem solving.
  • Production and end user support, where applicable.
  • Supporting integration with other enterprise solutions. 
  • Working with internal/external teams and business partners, to architect and build system solutions for using the latest technologies to satisfy requirements.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously with regular reporting in a gated process. 
  • Ongoing communication with both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Technical Analysis (ability to translate user based functional actions into high performing scalable code architecture).
  • Author technical design documentation. 
  • Navigating APIs and ability to familiarize quickly with Solumina i-series SDK.
  • Technical skills of SQL products. 
  • Technical skills working with Java, React JS, and Node JS.
  • Technical skills with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Technical skills with Maven and Spring Boot.
  • Understanding of code repositories and working in development cycles.
  • Ensuring compliance with RTX / PW policies & procedures. 
  • The position is based remotely and up to 10% domestic/international travel may be required. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • BS degree in MIS, Business, Engineering, or related degree. and 8+ years of prior relevant work experience; OR an Advanced Degree in MIS, Business, Engineering, or related degree and 5+ years of prior relevant work experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 12+ years of prior relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in design and development of data systems (SQL Server based on Cloud/on premise and Analytics) at enterprise scale. 
  • Understanding of the concepts of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Pattern, JDBC (Java Database Connectivity), and RESTful web services.
  • Skill for writing reusable Java libraries, knowhow of Java concurrency patterns.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience developing in Java and React JS, Node JS.
  • Primary technical expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL Database.
  • Primary technical expertise in Maven, Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes. 
  • Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming Patterns and Concepts 
  • 4+ years’ experience in Computer Science, MIS, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • US Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements. 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Microsoft Certifications in SQL Server, Azure SQL database and/or related technologies 
  • Must be hands on, deeply technical and exposure to latest features within Java, React JS, Node JS. Able to navigate Docker, Swagger, and Kubernetes

Exposure to or experience with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) 

  • Team player with strong follow up skills and ability to craft positive relationships 
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and able to trace problems 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Relishes orchestrating and organizing initiatives and processes 
  • Excellent judgment and professional business maturity 
  • Knowledge of other manufacturing solutions is a plus.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD – 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
