We’re REA

REA Group (https://www.rea-group.com/about-us/about-rea-group/) is not your average digital business. From humble beginnings in a garage in Melbourne’s east in 1995, we have grown into a leading global digital business, specialising in property.

With bold and ambitious goals, we are changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you’re at on your property journey, we’re here to help with every step – whether that’s finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we’re proud to be named in Australia’s “Top 5” Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

In this team, we are on a mission to help consumers manage their shortlist, evaluate properties and successfully transact. We’re focusing on bringing to life new, personalised experiences that drive engagement, particularly around helping consumers plan and attend inspections, enquire about a property, and make an offer. We think that solving consumer problems in these areas will allow us to step change our user experience, maintain the largest audience (more than half of Australian adults use us!) and provide better leads to real estate agents.

This year will be a challenging one: we work on high-visibility products and our decisions can fundamentally change how seekers attend inspections and communicate with agents. Because of this, we’ll want someone who can balance making strides against large initiatives while also getting small, cheap experiments out the door to help validate our next step.

What the role is all about

  • Designing, coding, testing, deploying, and maintaining applications.

  • Keeping our production applications stable and healthy.

  • Leading the implementation of major features.

  • Inform delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort and quality considerations.

  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process and team development.

  • Actively develop skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation.

  • Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team

Who we’re looking for

  • Advanced skills in a backend language such as Java or Scala + API development.

  • Experience in core web development technologies such as JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS & modern web applications frameworks (e.g. React).

  • Experience in modern software development techniques such as test-driven development and continuous delivery.

  • Able to be effective in a collaborative team environment.

  • Able to adapt and thrive in an evolving environment.

  • Excellent relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Strong learning agility.

  • Someone who looks at challenging situations through a solutions-focused lens.

  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced and agile environment
