About YOU

You will be responsible for supporting and completing tasks for Design Registration, Design Practitioner Vertical Transportation (DPVT), Codes, and regulations provided by Otis Elevators.

This 12-month fixed-term role reports to the Director of Modernization and Engineering.

Your Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the Design Registration process, ensuring product registration for both New and Modernisation equipment on time.

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on code compliance and risk to engineers, project managers, salespeople, and installers.

  • Support the Design Practitioner process, ensuring project approval and/or compliance certification is completed in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate and attend technical problem-solving workshops between internal and external stakeholders on project issues.

  • Provide guidance in the preparation of initial design briefs to customers, ensuring specified project designs are achievable under code requirements.

  • Devise and implement critical controls to identify and resolve potential project or design issues at earlier stages.

  • Assist in developing standardized engineering design, certification, and assurance documentation.

  • In collaboration with Product Managers and the Engineering Compliance Manager, perform design reviews, simulations, and testing to validate safety, quality, and compliance of new Otis Worldwide product models. Where necessary, identify or design required alterations to meet requirements of local standards and construction codes.

  • Liaising with Sales and Engineering teams as required to coordinate communication to customers as well as updating project design and drawings

  • Review of product components for code compliance and adherence to WHS and safety-in-design principles, including (where applicable) product specification substitution requests from Logistics and sales staff

  • Supporting the Product Quality Manager regarding FTB’

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Work towards achieving a Registered Engineer status and perform the role of verifier (where required) when this is achieved.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and help facilitate continuous improvement to satisfy the customers of your processes.

  • Work towards achieving Design Practitioner (Vertical Transport) accreditation and perform role of Design Practitioner autonomously when this is achieved.

  • Responsible for complying with company Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures, including reporting any conditions that may impact the environment or any employee.

  • Work on the Quality System, including procedures and manuals

What You Will Need to be Successful:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics) and

  • A professionally Registered Engineer (desirable) and have knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards

  • Have 3 to 4 years of experience, preferably in the building industry Experience in construction documentation and consultant coordination

  • Demonstrated project coordination experience within the construction industry

  • Ability to process and communicate construction industry-related technical information with ease

  • Work autonomously and as part of a team

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, attention to detail, and accountability

  • Good Microsoft Office skills and experience in AutoCAD

  • Have knowledge of Building Integration Management systems (desirable)
