Overview
MEPPI’s Service Center Division (SCD) is seeking a proactive Safety Program Specialist to lead the delivery and adherence to comprehensive safety programs. This role ensures the safety of all SCD personnel and aligns SCD-specific programs with the MEPPI Corporate Safety Management System (CSMS). By fostering a culture of safety, you will empower teams to operate securely and efficiently, maintaining MEPPI’s standards of excellence.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform Job Safety Analysis: Conduct and maintain job safety analyses for all SCD tasks, identifying and sourcing essential personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Resolve Safety Concerns: Address and resolve daily safety and environmental questions from employees, ensuring compliance with MEPPI’s standards.
- Support Customer Needs: Complete customer safety questionnaires and environmental information requests, oversee vendor safety reviews, and ensure customer site requirements align with MEPPI safety standards.
- Inspect and Audit Sites: Perform on-site safety and environmental inspections to verify personnel compliance with safe job procedures.
- Ensure Compliance: Conduct CSMS requirement reviews, implementing updates as needed, and ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Manage Incidents: Review and approve incident reports, conduct investigations, implement corrective actions, and track resolutions to completion.
- Oversee Environmental Compliance: Collaborate with SCD management to ensure operational adherence to environmental standards.
- Lead Committees: Represent SCD on the Corporate Safety Committee, establish a divisional safety committee, and serve as the Chairperson.
- Train Teams: Deliver safety training for new hires and conduct program-specific environmental training. Maintain logs for completed and required training sessions.
- Ensure DOT Compliance: Monitor and ensure that personnel operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) meet DOT requirements.
- Report Hazards: Document and communicate identified hazards, oversee corrective actions, and maintain a site observation program.
- Promote Professionalism: Foster collaboration with other MEPPI divisions and stakeholders, enhancing the division’s reputation.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Management, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Certification: Possession of an ISNetworld certification is required.
- Expertise: Advanced knowledge in safety techniques and job safety analysis (JSA); intermediate understanding of safety engineering methods and OSHA regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety program software.
- Communication: Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage safety initiatives and engage stakeholders.
