McCauley Health & Beauty Pharmacy, the unique and highly successful “One Stop Health and Beauty Shop”, are the leading Irish owned pharmacy chain with 35 branches nationwide and 500 colleagues.We are currently looking for a Retail Store Manager to join our store in Mahon Point. This is a full time, permanent contract.Main Duties and Responsibilities:General
- Comply with company policies at all times

- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, management, reps, and Support Office
- Complete all tasks to the best of your ability and to the highest standard
- Participate in training programmes and implementation and be proactive in developing the role function
- Ensure effective time management and task prioritisation
- Carry out all reasonable tasks and requests as assigned by Manager/supervisor/ pharmacist
- Ensure discretion and confidentiality are always maintained
- To step-up to Acting Manager in the absence of same
Customer Service
- Model excellence in customer service throughout the store at all times to include:
- Warm greeting
- Questioning techniques
- Listening skills
- Product or service information
- Warm farewell
- Ensure professionalism and confidentiality are adhered to in all departments and sections, particularly the dispensary
- Ensure timely follow through on all promises / queries made to customers
- Professionally handle potentially irate customer in an appropriate and sympathetic manner, endeavouring to find a satisfactory solution
- Ensure timely follow through on all customer complaints and, resolve at local level. Escalate to Store Manager as and when appropriate
- Ensure telephone and email queries are answered in a timely manner and answered satisfactorily
- Ensure that GDPR regulations are adhered to at all times
Retail Operations
- Responsibility within the store for Stock Management specifically relating to: Ordering, Stock Receiving, Storage, Merchandising and Display, Pricing and Signage, Stock Management, Date checking / Rotation, Promotions, Scanning, Returns, New product ranges and Stock Takes
- Responsibility for Pharmacy Presentation Standards specifically relating to the appearance and cleanliness of the OTC counters storage areas, floors, shelving, signage, etc. in line with health, safety and security standards and company hygiene standards
- Attainment of maximum Store Audits scores; PSI Compliance, IMB Compliance, Mystery Shopping etc.
- Responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of all associated administration, documentation, and paperwork (both internal and external)
Financial Management
- Support store management in the attainment of:
- Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly, and annually within the dispensary, shop floor and various departments/sections
- the management of store overheads, expenses, shrinkage, and profits
- minimum stock holding ensuring maximum discounts and bonuses are achieved
- the accurate processing of all supplier invoicing, credits, and statement
- the accuracy of cash management, including shift/daily reconciliations, till overs and shortages and voids/refunds, banking/lodgements, change/floats, and pay-outs
- Achieve agreed personal revenue goals and growth targets
Business Management / Development
- Take responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of all associated administration, documentation, and paperwork (both internal and external)
- In conjunction with the Supervising Pharmacist Manager, ensure all hours are submitted accurately, including holidays and overtime, as per company procedures to ensure smooth operation of payroll system.
Staff Management / Performance(The Retail Manager will have day to day responsibility for the Retail Supervisor and the sales team with overall accountability to the Supervising Pharmacist Manager)
- Lead by positive example and support a spirit of team cooperation and motivation within the store
- Support the Retail Supervisor in day-to-day operations of the team across all department, sections etc.
- Ensure that all Colleagues comply with all company policies, practices, and procedures at all times
- Support all team members with positive performance feedback, guidance, and correction. Escalate performance concerns to the Supervising Pharmacist Manager and or HR as appropriate
- Communicate professionally and openly with all team members
- Confirm all team members are fully briefed in a timely manner on all products, services, promotions, and operational issues received from support office or a member of the McCauley Health & Beauty Pharmacy management team
- Co-ordinate and manage Colleague breaks and lunch rosters daily
- Monitor Colleague training needs and liaise with Learning and Development to arrange same
- In conjunction with Supervising Pharmacist Manager, effectively manage day to day operations of the team including rostering, holidays, absenteeism, and timekeeping, ensuring full cover is maximised in the sales team and across all departments (excluding dispensary)
- Liaise with HR in relation to work experience applications
- Conduct annual Performance Appraisals with the sales team
- In conjunction with the Supervising Pharmacist Manager conduct the annual performance review for the Retail Supervisor
NAV Operation
- Strictly follow company guidelines on processing sales, discounts, accepting payment – cash, credit/debit cards, vouchers, account payments, etc.
- Ensure that the Retail Supervisor is supported in providing NAV Training to new Colleagues in a planned fashion and in line with the NAV Training Checklist
- Provide re-fresher training to existing Colleagues where performance issues have occurred
- Provide NAV training where new or modified Policies, Practices or Procedures have occurred.
Security Management
- Support Managing Supervising Pharmacist / Store Manager competently manage:
- the secure storage of high-risk products (value and safety) eliminating security risks
- key holding within the store ensuring premises is opened up and secured in line with company policy and trading hours
- the adherence to company security procedures within the store by all store team members (including non-customer areas)
- Ensure PA alarm system is fully operational at all times
- Ensure CCTV system is fully operational at all times
Health, Safety and Welfare Management
- Strictly comply with standards and safe working practices as outlined in The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and subsequent Regulations, Acts or Amendments
- Strictly comply with all policies, practices, and procedures, outlined in the Sam McCauley Health and Safety Management System and Safety Statement
- Give full support to all Health and Safety Representative(s) in carrying out their duties
- Participate in all/any Health, Safety and Welfare Training offered
- Utilise all / any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available / offered
- Actively look for hazards when carrying out duties and take appropriate action to remove and/or report to Manager
- Operate all machinery and equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions
- Maintain security awareness at all times and escalate where appropriate
- Escalate Health and Safety concerns immediately
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years Retail Experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably pharmacy
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in People Management
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to use discretion when addressing customer queries and to treat customer’s information confidentially
- Good attention to detail is essential
- Organised with a proven ability to multi-task successfully under pressure
- Customer and quality focused
- Supplier management experience
- Experience in managing payroll
- Proven ability to drive sales meeting the company strategy
- Ability to lead and motivate the retail teams
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Basic IT skills are an advantage
