An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our passionate and dedicated Respiratory nursing team for a 12-month secondment. We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with previous experience of chronic respiratory disease management and a keen interest in further development.You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team and be committed to high standards of care. You will demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge participating in direct patient care and management of long-term conditions such as COPD, Asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease and management of non-tuberculous mycobacterium infection. This will involve acute care supporting inpatient management plans, supported discharge, participation in hospital avoidance, pulmonary rehabilitation and independent nurse led outpatient clinics. You will be required to assist with the weekly pleural clinic alongside a Respiratory consultant. The role will need someone who is motivated, well organised and able to manage a caseload of patients. The respiratory Nursing service is currently delivered over 5 days a week, Monday-Friday.You will join a team of Respiratory nurses and administrators and will be actively working within a multidisciplinary team of Nurses, consultants, physiotherapist and palliative care specialist.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be a vital member of the St Richards Respiratory CNS team working with GP’s, Practice nurses/nurse practitioners to support the screening, planning and monitoring of patients diagnosed with asthma, COPD, ILD and bronchiectasis. The successful post holder will be involved in managing a caseload of patients, and support patients to become independent with their management and treatments to deliver high quality care to patients with asthma & COPD, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis; assisting to identify those patients who may be eligible for biological asthma treatments. The post holder will support the assessment of patients suitability for pulmonary rehabilitation.The post holder will be involved in education, audit and research and support the development of the severe asthma service.Please note that if you currently work for another NHS Trust or UHSussex and you are applying to accept this position as asecondmentopportunity, before applying you must seek agreement andauthorisationfrom your current Trust/Manager.Secondmentscan’t be agreed without this approval.
