We are We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Research & Technology Scientist to join the Biotechnology R&T team. With a growing need for new sustainable products biotechnology is an area of future growth and expansion within the business. The role is heavily R&D based, involving the development of various downstream processes and using many sustainable technologies.The successful candidate will also be required to support the analytic testing laboratory. The candidate will work closely with industrial production, IP, regulatory, application, sales and marketing to support the launch of products into Croda’s markets.Benefits Package:The successful candidate will receive a competitive benefits package including:

- BSc at least 4 years, or preferably PhD degree with at least 2 years’ experience in downstream processing or related to a life sciences / biotechnology equivalent discipline.
- Experience developing downstream processes with an understanding of critical parameters for the successful extraction, purification, clarification and preservation of natural or GMO-derived products.
- You will have the ability to work within the biotechnology team and wider commercial teams.
- You will need to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage and plan your own workload.
- You will have the ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Ability to research patents for relevant target products and build a DSP strategy using in-depth publication reading skills.
- Ability to use some or preferably all of the following devices, optimise the relevant parameters and manage their effects in a DSP flow:
- High-Pressure Homogenizer
- TFF (Tangential Flow Filtration)
- Continuous flow centrifuge
- Steam distillation systems
Desirables:
- Previous work experience within the biotechnology industry.
- Previous project related to Supercritical Extraction Systems.
- Catalytic conversion reactions and their optimizations.
- Previous work on stability studies and related DoE design.
- Proven experience of taking an idea to commercial success.
- Previous experience in industrial-scale production would be beneficial.
