Job Description:Grade UE07- £39,347-£46,974School of Engineering, College of Science & EngineeringInstitute/Discipline: Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems (IMNS)Full Time- 35 hours per weekFixed Term- 24 monthsThe Opportunity:The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a Research Associate in Single-photon Sensor Technology for LIDAR. This Research Associate position will contribute to the EPSRC-funded UK Hub for Quantum Enabled Position, Navigation and Timing within the Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems (IMNS) at the University of Edinburgh.This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 24 months.A full list of main responsibilities and the knowledge, skills and experience required for the role can be found in the full job description below.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A good undergraduate degree and a PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related area
  • Experience in system level development of electronic devices, including PCB design, firmware and software development
  • Capable of working collaboratively with researchers and industry professionals from different disciplines or technical background
  • Capable of working independently, exercising a high degree of initiative, and demonstrating a pro-active and flexible approach to work
  • Good communication skills: oral, writing and presentation of data

In 2002, the present School of Engineering was formed from the previously existing departments of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
