Position Summary
Barr na gCnoc is a community outreach project of Ionad na Gaeilge Labhartha (the Centre for Spoken Irish), University College Cork. Funded by the Higher Education Authority, the project seeks to explore and develop Irish-language education (supported by ancillary community activities) as a motivator and enabler among schoolchildren in an area experiencing deep economic and social disadvantage.
This initiative is firmly based on community demand and engagement and responds to national DEIS school baseline data on educational disadvantage. Barr na gCnoc created a mutually beneficial partnership that is improving the quality of life and learning in the school and the community and empowering the community while advancing UCC’s community engagement.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of a Principal Investigator to undertake community-engaged research with project stakeholders. This will involve engaging with partner secondary and primary school students/ staff, parents and guardians, members of the local community, including local community groups/partners, and stakeholders in Gaeltacht communities.

Post Duration: 14 Months, Full -Time Post
Salary: €33,291 – €43,372 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale)
