Remote Operations is part of the Global Service organization and the job is located at the Portland, OR North American Headquarters. Our Operators monitor windfarms across North America and respond to alarms and urgent situation needing escalation or immediate attention. The ROC operates 24×7 monitoring of both Vestas and multi-brand turbines. Operators also work to improve our response flows to individual alarms to ensure we are doing as much as possible to prevent a site visit without taking a further risk of potential damage. Our team has recently moved operations to being 100% remote, but there is office space available at the headquarters if you prefer to work in an office setting.
Responsibilities
- This position is remote, subject to ROC remote work policies (reliable power, cell and internet, and be located in USA are main necessities). It is a night shift position, Thu-Sat, every other Wednesday, 1830-0630 Pacific.
- Perform advanced level wind turbine remote operations and support. This includes proficienttroubleshooting and use of remote operation and diagnostic tools. Document tasks where required and enters data into company system, such as SAP.
- Effectively gather information remotely regarding turbine issues and performance. May diagnose, recommend and implement solutions for turbine equipment. Communicate pertinent information to key individuals and the field. Seek assistance when encountering turbine issues outside trained skill level to ensure effectiveness in resolution.
- Follow basic structured problem-solving process to perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks with remote SCADA and IT diagnostic tools.
- Initiate and perform most work tasks as well as follow defined instructions as directed according to written and verbal instructions.
- Exhibit integrity, initiative, as well as a focus on reliability and quality of work. May assist with, or perform basic quality audits of less experienced staff.
- Encourage teamwork by assisting teammates with their goals and mentoring junior technical staff. Visibly support and promote team spirit and cooperation.
Look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures and communicate through the appropriate channels.
- Interface with customer and may respond to customer inquiries. Will refer complex customer inquiries to higher level technical staff or manager. Take care of good customer service.
- This role may require working overtime, including working a flexible and variable work schedule as needed to meet business objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year technical wind industry experience OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, minimum three (3) years’ experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills
- Technical Associates degree or equivalent preferred
- Intermediate IT tools are needed
- Verbal communication skills and reading comprehension skills
Attention to detail and solid ability to solve problems
- Prior customer relations experience in a commercial setting preferred
- Ability to understand technical language and to recognize and differentiate technical issues
- Ability to work without supervision and as part of a team
Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other software programs
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Able to use English to communicate.
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Ability to interact frequently with others in a professional, courteous manner
- Ability to understand technical language and to recognize and differentiate technical issues
- Ability to work without supervision and in a team environment
