MEPPI’s Transportation Systems Division (TSD) is looking for a Test Eneigneer to perform Verification and Validation (V and V) activities in support of Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) projects. Work with Program Managers and System Engineers to ensure compliance to customers’ defined standards. Serve as Subject Matter Expert in CBTC verification, validation, integration, and test activities to ensure the delivery of a complete, correct, and accurate CBTC system per project contractual requirements.
Essential Functions
Assist in execution of the CBTC V-cycle activities (Integration, Validation, Verification) throughout the whole project life: Design, Factory Integration, Customer Lab test and Field/site testing.
Create test procedures, test cases, and test scenarios and plan their execution on the test bed, in the customer lab, and in the field.
Ensure that the design and customer requirements are correctly translated into all test plans and procedures.
Identify and select simulators and other test bed equipment needed to perform testing.
Execute test procedures, record test results, and create test reports including Functional Validation Test Report, Performance Test Report (i.e. Robustness, Endurance, Redundancy), etc., in the factory and in the field.
Ensure that factory testing provides full performance coverage to guarantee correct implementation of the CBTC functional and safety requirements.
Perform hardware & software integration including troubleshooting of circuits, relays, and communication equipment.
Manage the site installation and contractor(s) assigned to installation. Verify the installation of equipment on rail cars and in the field. Ensure equipment component testing prior to delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field with 3-5 years’ experience with testing major metro railway automated systems, or equivalent education and experience.
Advanced knowledge of CBTC interoperability specifications for carborne and zone controller functional requirements.
Advanced knowledge of Verification and Validation testing techniques.
Intermediate knowledge of railroad wayside signaling equipment, radio communication networks, and critical railway systems and testing.
Ability to develop requirements based on customer specifications.
Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers and employees.
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products.
