SCOPE AND NATURE OF THE SERVICES:
Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.
We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.

Purpose of the consultancy
The purpose of the consultancy is to design and deliver targeted training on protection analysis, using Protection Analytical Framework (PAF), equipping RI’s staff with the skills and tools required to effectively conduct protection analysis in humanitarian or development contexts. This training aims to enable participants to analyze protection risks, identify trends and vulnerabilities impacting target populations.
The consultant is expected to be able to carry any of the following tasks:
- Development of Training Curriculum and Materials
- Develop a comprehensive training curriculum covering the core elements of PAF, including risk identification, vulnerability analysis and practical application.
- Design training materials, including case studies, hands-on exercises, and templates, to facilitate application of the concepts in real-world.
- Incorporate interactive learning methods, such as group activities and scenario-based learning, to enhance engagement and learning retention.
- Delivery of Training Sessions
- Facilitate training workshops (in-person or virtual), that are participatory and adapted to different experience levels.
- Cover essential areas, including risk identification, data analysis, and integrating analysis outcomes into program planning.
- Adapt training techniques to diverse learning preferences and maximize understanding.
- Post-Training Support and Follow-Up
- Provide post-training support, including Q&A sessions, mentoring, or additional materials to assist staff in applying the PAF.
- Facilitate follow-up workshops or individual sessions to address specific challenges participants encounter when applying the framework.
- Evaluation of Training Effectiveness
- Develop and administer pre- and post-training assessments to measure progress and effectiveness of the training.
- Collect feedback from participants to evaluate satisfaction and identify areas of improvement, incorporating insights into the final consultancy report.
Key deliverables
- Training Curriculum and Materials: Includes presentations, handouts, case studies, and practical exercises.
- Delivery of Training Sessions: Includes attendance records, session summaries, and participant evaluations.
- Final Consultancy Report: Details activities, participant feedback, challenges, key learnings, and recommendations for future training needs.
