The Opportunity:

KBR is actively seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our dedicated Project Management Function. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in Project Management specifically within the Defence industry, encompassing the entire lifecycle of projects from initiation through to completion.

This role is positioned within the functional area of the organisation, requiring the successful applicant to manage a diverse portfolio of projects. These projects may include both internal initiatives that drive organisational efficiency and externally facing projects that engage with clients and stakeholders. As such, the Project Manager will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills, effectively coordinating resources and guiding teams to achieve project objectives.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with budgetary constraints. This will involve meticulous planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication to align project goals with organisational strategy. The ability to navigate competing priorities and foster collaborative relationships across various departments will be essential for success in this role.

Overall, this position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to contribute to KBR’s mission in the Defence sector while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The key responsibilities of the role, but is not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage multiple projects across various domains and stages of the opportunity and project lifecycles.

  • Coordinate both internal projects within KBR and externally facing projects, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

  • Engage and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders to facilitate project success.

  • Utilise Earned Value Management (EVM) principles as per ISO 21508, AS 4817, or equivalent frameworks to monitor project performance.

  • Lead proposal and bid management efforts, including the development of project plans, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), WBS dictionaries, and detailed schedules.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge and experience from within the Defence industry to inform project strategies and decisions.

  • Ensure compliance with ASDEFCON guidelines and other relevant regulatory frameworks throughout project execution.

  • Identify and mitigate risks, implementing appropriate controls to maintain project integrity and deliverables.

  • Prepare and present project updates, reports, and documentation to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Foster a collaborative team environment, providing leadership and mentorship to project teams to enhance performance and outcomes.

    As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a similar role

  • The ability to gain or maintain an NV-1 Australian Government Security Clearance

  • Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or equivalent certification

  • Have a degree in Business, Project Management or related field.

  • ASDEFCON experienceE xperience with proposal and bid management including the development of multiple types of plans, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), WBS dictionaries, schedules, etc.
