Programme Support Officer

We are looking for a Programme Support Officer to support the grant administration and coordination of logistics related to a portfolio of education research grants focusing on two of WCA’s evidence-based/-informed methodologies, Can’t Wait to Learn and SchoolLinks. Research projects are currently ongoing/upcoming in Ukraine, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Yemen, and Lebanon. You will work in coordination with different departments, country offices, and programme teams. You will report to the Research Manager and will sit in the Research & Development department. You will be also working across multiple projects.

War Child Alliance (WCA) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization, with programme offices in fourteen countries, investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We strive to empower children and young people while enabling adults to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of conflict affected children and young people. WCA’s Research and Development (R&D) department is responsible for the rigorous development and evaluation of methodologies for child protection, education and psychosocial support, targeting children, caregivers, teachers, communities and practitioners.

Your Mission:

  • Recruitment and Contracting: Coordinate recruitment and contracting of staff and consultants
  • Contract and Partnership Management: Coordinate the contract and partnership management of consultants and staff
  • Procurement: Procurement of required research equipment in coordination with country-based or global procurement team(s)
  • Travel and Events : Coordinate team members’ travel arrangements and events
  • Budget : Monitor budget and support budget management
  • Donor Reports: Coordinate donor report input and lead writing
  • Activities: Support programme activity coordination, monitoring, planning and communications
  • Research Activities: Preparation support for research activities
  • Ad hoc (administrative) support: related to research and grant management activities

Your Profile:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent in business administration, programme management, or similar.
  • Work Experience: At least one year in business/grant administration, programme monitoring, or management.
  • Sector Experience: One year in international development, with conflict/post-conflict experience a plus.
  • Team Collaboration: One year working with multinational, multicultural teams across offices and organizations.
  • Relevant Background: Financial, operational, or logistics experience is advantageous.
  • Language Skills: Excellent English; French preferred; Arabic is a plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning, multitasking, and attention to detail.

  • Location : Based in any War Child office compatible with East Africa Time zone but with a preference to be based in a programming rather than fundraising office (fundraising offices are indicated with *); Afghanistan, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Germany*, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the Netherlands*, the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Sweden*, Syria, Uganda, United Kingdom*, and Yemen. Preference is given to applicants who reside and have valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.
