Be part of a company that thinks differently to solve problems, make progress and deliver meaningful innovations.Our PurposeThe Product Development Director has the primary responsibility and authority as the functional leader of the product development engineering team supporting Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid therapies for the Structural Heart & Aortic business.Reporting to the VP of R&D, the leader is responsible for hiring engineering staff and strengthening appropriate technical competencies aligned with the scope of active and future R&D projects. The leader is expected to maintain a strong engineering organization as well as directly contribute to the technical strategy and execution of projects. The leader will ensure appropriately skilled engineers are assigned to global product development teams with efforts spread across a continuum from early concept through commercialization. The leader will be a part of the Mitral and Tricuspid R&D Leadership Team responsible for strategy and execution of the R&D portfolio and ensuring that new products are delivered on time and meet functional and operational goals including Quality, Manufacturability, Performance, Cost and Flawless Launch.This leader works with global, cross-functional peers to develop the strategy, systems, processes, and organizational structure to deliver on the product portfolio pipeline through internal development as well as via external partnerships. This requires significant breadth of knowledge in medical device product development as well as management of broad range of disciplines required to bring products to market.Come for a job, stay for a career!A Day in The Life Of:

  • Develops and maintains the talent/people strategies ensuring that high caliber talent is being selected, managed, and deployed for maximum impact.
  • Partners with the cross-functional and project leaders to ensure that Product Development teams prioritize quality and engineering rigor while achieving business objectives.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
  • Participates in developing portfolio strategy and supports engineering execution within project teams.
  • Manages functional cost center and department spending in line with business guidance.
  • Fosters teamwork and collaboration between functional and project leaders.
  • Provides functional and department leadership to organization and oversees, along with Human Resources, organizational plans, performance management, salary administration, and employee relations issues.
  • Recruits, hires, develops and manages engineering staff. Actively assures the retention, recognition and development of team members throughout the organization.
  • Actively works to promote employee engagement through organizational diversity and team building.
  • Drives a culture/environment of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Manages and develops talent effectively by defining clear expectations and motivating for high performance. Practices and models the development, coaching and mentoring for employees.
  • Ensures the quality policy/system is understood, implemented and maintained by ensuring compliance within the department.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Requires a Bachelors degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
  • Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas, and detailed functional and operational expertise.
  • Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
  • Autonomy: Manages department (s) or region that includes multiple teams led by managers and / or supervisors.
  • Organizational Impact: Leads the development of the strategy for own department or business area, ensuring links to the company’s aims and objectives.
  • Management authority to make large business decisions and some strategic decisions.
  • Decisions impact the financial performance, employees, or public image of the operational unit and/or company.
  • Typically has budget or P&L accountability for a department, broad functional area or geography.
  • Innovation and Complexity: Drives innovation across the business area, encouraging best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Up to 25% Travel Requirement as needed
