The role will be to represent Procurement as a Procurement Project Manager, working as part of an integrated team with the businesses functions to enable the Procurement organisation and develop world class supply chain solutions (competitiveness, quality, on time delivery), fulfilling the customer needs and aligned with Thales Procurement strategy led by the Global Category Managers. To this end, and to introduce supplier innovations to our solutions, he/she will play a key role in the early stages (pre Gate 1 / definition phase) of Bids, Projects and/or Product teams activities.UWS is at a critical point – with exciting and significant business growth ahead of it, developing and deploying cutting edge capabilities its customers. With Supply Chain representing significant stakes in Project delivery, strong Procurement support is required to engage in this next phase of the UK Domain’s business strategy.The Procurement Project Manager MSET UWS will support the Marine Sensor Enhancement Team (MSET) contract, which is a vast new contract we have awarded – worth £1.85 billion.It will maximise days at seas for the Royal Navy Fleet by ensuring sustained, long-term availability and resilience of critical assets, spares and repairs over the next 15 years.By significantly increasing equipment availability, M-Set will increase the longevity of sensor and sonar capability, which is critical for the Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD) and wider ship and submarine capabilities. The result is GLOBAL Security will be boosted, the Royal Navy is presently fully engaged around the world. The Royal Navy operates ships and submarines across every ocean and continent. On Active duty, 365 days a year.Thales UK will aim to provide full availability of the equipment that is the eyes and ears of the Royal Navy. Utilising data technology, including AI and virtual reality to provide a more proactive, and predictive maintenance systems, the project will secure a projected 450 employees across 5 Thales sites in the UK.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be working with internal stakeholders to ensure acquisition or sourcing strategies for a campaign, bid, or product or project are aligned to the needs of the business in the short, medium and long term durations. As well as working with the bid and product development teams to ascertain the work package needs, competitiveness objectives and target costs. Develop supply chain architecture; negotiate with the supply chain, under these mandates, to obtain a complete and competitive supply chain architecture which delivers the full requirement of the bid/product.When in project phase, you will work closely with key stakeholders and functions as necessary, to manage all Procurement aspects ensuring work packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements.Skills and ExperienceCapability to manage by influence and to convinceOpen minded (listen, share ideas) and bring added value / capture innovationCapability to animate international multi organization project (or bid) teams (requesters, Global Category Managers/Category Managers/Category Buyers, contract management,…)Capability to speak out and to handle conflicts / problem resolutionUnderstanding of the BL business model and of products’ lifecyclesMake or Buy and risk management skillsBasics in FinanceLong term vision of product or projectAbility to commit and to deliverProcurement experienceBid and Project Management competenciesBring added value / capture innovationKnowledge in cost evaluation, Design to Value, Lean approach.Basics skills in regulations (export control, Reach, etc…)Benefits at ThalesWe strive to create an environment where you can prioritise your wellbeing and have designed our benefits to give you the flexibility and power to do so.
