Working for a specialist equipment manufacturer in Oxfordshire, this position provides a great opportunity to start or develop a career, in purchasing and logistics, in a high-tech instrumentation company.The role requires a high level of accuracy, ownership, timely action and liaison with colleagues or suppliers ensuring the constant flow of components through the production process whilst maintaining purchasing records to a high standard.Responsibilities

  • Placing low value purchase orders and also higher value orders when directed and/or authorised by an appropriate manager.
  • Feedback accurate stock data and analysis from the Sage MRP system to the Procurement Manager; run reports and supply data as requested.
  • Communicating with suppliers via telephone/email to ensure current purchase orders are progressing to agreed timescales, updating the MRP system with delivery information and dates.
  • Communicating to the intended recipient, Project Manager or Procurement Manager any issues including component availability, delinquent delivery or obsolescence of low value parts.
  • Consumable component cost and lead time discussions with suppliers to ensure the timely but economic purchase of ancillary parts on behalf of the company.
  • Replenishment of company provisions, stationery and other low value commodities in a timely manner.
  • The role will require periodic work to support the inventory control function such as entering purchase order receipts on to the MRP system, booking in/out parts from stock, picking parts from stock, kitting, backflushing as orders are fulfilled and resource levels require.

Skills & Experience:

  • A knowledge of buying, stock control or logistics administration desirable
  • Computer literate – experience of MRP systems would be an advantage but training will be given
  • MS office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Confident and clear communication style.
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Able to communicate and liaise effectively with people of all levels.
  • GCSE English Language and Maths at 5 or above as a minimum.
