Our Urbanism & Planning team comprises of Urban and Environmental Planners, Landscape Architects, Architects and Urban Designers. Our team services a diverse range of clients and market sectors within Victoria, interstate and internationally. Our work includes major transit infrastructure, power and renewables infrastructure, master planning services and precinct scale projects. We support due diligence assessments, permitting, Environmental Impact Assessment and the delivery phase of major projects. Our team are supporting some of the most significant infrastructure projects in Australia.

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Urban Planner to join our Melbourne Team to assist in the delivery of a variety of major infrastructure and public realm projects throughout Victoria.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Lead and manage a range of urban planning deliverables including; project approval strategies, multi-criteria analysis and options assessment, land use impact assessment in support of EES and planning permit applications.

  • Provide support on major projects in areas such as; delivery of Development Plans/Urban Design and Landscape Plans, Urban Design Strategies, planning due diligence and approval strategies, and planning scheme amendments.

  • Effectively managing projects to schedule and budget and achieving high quality outcomes and outputs to the satisfaction of the client.

  • Providing urban planning advice on a broad range of AECOM projects aligned with the Urbanism + Planning practice including masterplans, feasibility studies and business cases.

  • Mentor, guide and develop junior staff to ensure their professional development and the delivery of high-quality and timely outcomes on projects.

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

  • A tertiary qualification to degree level in Urban / Environmental Planning (or similar) with, ideally 10+ years relevant experience in urban planning.

  • A well-developed understanding of contemporary planning practices with the ability to apply planning legislation and planning schemes across transit and / or precinct development.

  • Demonstrated skills in managing projects (or components of) and budgets to meet time and resource requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.

  • A desire to think and act beyond one’s technical training, embracing opportunities to lead and manager multi-disciplinary teams.
