We are seeking motivated Engineering professionals to join our high performing Water Division and assist on our water infrastructure projects based in our Sydney project office. Our projects span the lifecycle of project delivery from feasibility studies through to detailed design packages for construction.

About the role:

Our Water Group is growing, and we have terrific opportunities for talented Principal Civil Engineers experienced in a Civil Lead capacity to delivering water infrastructure solutions. We are looking for Principal Level Civil Engineers with expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure design, water and sewerage networks, facilities and treatment plants to join our project team based in Sydney Olympic Park project office.

The role requires independent decisions in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments in a multi-disciplinary design team environment with our design and construction partners. The individual would be able to evaluate complex, special and advanced engineering tasks and collaborate with engineers in other disciplines to augment project solutions. Support positioning for potential projects, by writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts. Represents the organization in client meetings and leverages established relationships to pursue opportunities to secure additional work. provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff.

Responsibilities:

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be a Civil Lead in the team to provide professional engineering skills in the areas of water and wastewater projects along with the following:

  • Responsible for design of complex projects which require specialized knowledge, including technical preparation and coordination of the design, specifications, technical documentation test data, etc. to ensure compliance with project requirements. Assess environmental impact and project risks.

  • Liaise with Management team in manage resourcing of Civil Engineers on projects.

  • Liaise with clients as a designated contact, on regulatory and/or funding agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.

  • Support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts. Provides cost estimates and budget projections for technical proposals.

  • Support Design Mangers/ Project Manager(s) with technical evidenced proposals as project issues arise with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, or reviewing agencies.

  • Manage, direct, and monitor progress of the civil technical elements within each phase of a project.

  • Provide guidance to other team members as an internal technical expert.

  • Contribute to the development of new standards and specifications of civil design.

  • Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

  • Professional Engineer license EA/ RPEQ or working towards is highly regarded.

  • Relevant professional experience in consulting or engineering within the water industry.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, water and sewerage networks, facilities and treatment plants projects.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to details

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, manage the project and meet tight deadlines

  • Prior experience working with Sydney Water desirable or relevant governmental authorities.

  • Expertise with dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies.
