Job description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Bridge Engineer to join a growing team focused on high-impact bridge and civil engineering projects. This permanent position offers flexible working options in Dublin.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical input on bridge and civil engineering projects.
  • Work with both existing and new bridges, covering all aspects of superstructure, substructure, and articulation.
  • Engage in early project stages, including scoping, specifying surveys, inspections, and preliminary design.
  • Perform detailed design tasks, including modeling, calculations, and drawing review.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Conduct technical reviews, including category 3 checks and site representation.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients, including local and national authorities, consultants, and contractors.
  • Mentor junior team members toward professional qualification.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognized body (e.g., Engineers Ireland, ICE).
  • 10-15 years of experience in bridge engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge engineering software and design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB).
  • Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and produce high-quality design outputs.
  • Proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects, including highways, geotechnics, or rail.
  • Familiarity with business development and bid/tender work.
