Job purpose:The goal of this post-doctoral role will be focused on the development of innovative engineered nanosystems, driving a next generation of delivery technologies for vaccines. Nanovehicles (as lipid-based nanoparticles – LNPs) in vivo fate and effect can be tuned by modulating their physicochemical properties.This role will be located at GSK Belgium (Rixensart).Please use the cover letter to highlight how you fit the applicant profile and meet the skills and competencies for the role. Your cover letter along with your CV will be used to assess your application.Your responsibilities:Within Basic Pharmaceutical Science Drug Product Team in Research & Development, you will design, formulate, and characterize novel delivery systems that will allow to:

• Select the most promising strategy to implement nanovehicles and enable the development of a new vaccines’ platform.
• Understanding key attributes that relate to formulation performance via in vitro/in vivo studies.

In this context, you will have the possibility to play a key role in the development of an innovative vaccine platform, bringing your own ideas and expertise to develop engineered nanosystems. You are expected to participate in the conception, design, implementation, and interpretation of scientific and technical data, applying the knowledge and skills you have gained from your previous experiences. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Drug Product team, surrounded by a group of excellent scientists dedicated at meeting the patients’ needs, and working to improve their quality of life.Why you?Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• PhD in (Bio-)engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific field, with proven experience in vaccine delivery systems preparation.
• Previously demonstrated experience in analytical techniques used for nanovehicles characterization (e.g. size, polydispersity index, surface charge, stability and degradation, encapsulation efficiency), with a focus in understanding the structure – activity relationship of the system.
• Strong knowledge of development of innovative formulation strategies, with a focus on RNA-based delivery approaches.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey scientific messages across multidisciplinary functions.
• Fluent in English; French is a plus.
• The ability to deal with complexity, strong problem-solving and self-directional abilities.
• Ability to work in an international environment, with a strong team spirit.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications:If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:

• Knowledge of lipid-based nanosystems, and formulation via microfluidics-based technologies.
• Experience with liquid chromatography for small molecules and biologics quantification and method development.
• Experience in vaccines, adjuvants, or immunotherapy.
• Experience on in vitro release and cell-based assays.
• Experience on in vivo efficacy and biodistribution studies.
