Position overview

Platform for Peace and Humanity’s Ukraine programme is looking for an outreach officer to establish and maintain relations with the Ukrainian community in the Czech and Slovak Republics and other relevant stakeholders. The programme focuses on projects concerning responsibility for international crimes committed in Ukraine. The selected candidate will lead an outreach campaign in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to raise awareness in the target group about mechanisms for delivering accountability for crimes committed in Ukraine in connection with the Russian aggression and the legal aid provided by the programme, assist with the identification of possible victims and witnesses in the region, conduct dialogue with relevant stakeholders in the region and promote activities and products developed by the programme.

Deadline: 23 December 2024 (Midnight CET)

Start date: 1 January 2025

Duration: 12 months (extension possible)

Commitment: full-time, flexible work hours

Location: home office (remote), based in Slovakia/Czechia, with regular travelling

Remuneration: 1400 EUR/monthly

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist the Ukraine programme in the implementation of the outreach strategy focused on the target group (the Ukrainian community in the Czech and Slovak Republics)
  • Travel within the Czech and Slovak Republics to raise awareness about the activities of the Ukraine programme
  • Establish contact with relevant actors in the region and actively search for victims and witnesses of war crimes in the Ukrainian community in the Czech and Slovak Republics and other States
  • Cooperate with local non-governmental organisations and other relevant actors in order to contribute to the development of the programme
  • Assist in developing the Ukraine programme’s outreach products (e.g., videos, infographics, information leaflets, etc.).

Main requirements

Mandatory:

  • Ability to work in an international team and handle uncertain situations
  • Empathy with the target group (victims and witnesses of war crimes), ability to work with demanding content
  • Excellent orientation in the Ukrainian community in the Czech and Slovak Republics (possibly also in other European countries)
  • Good knowledge of Czech and/or Slovak language (B2) and native proficiency in Ukrainian/Russian language
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to establish relationships
  • Ability to convey complex information in a simple way for the target audience
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience in the production of various types of communication/outreach materials
  • Ability to meet reasonable deadlines
  • Proficiency in standard office tools (email, MS Office products, etc.)

Desirable:

  • Willingness to constantly learn and develop new skills
  • Previous experience with non-profit organisations and project management
  • Experience with content creation tools is a significant advantage (Adobe products, Canva, etc.)
