Are you a strong Operations Supervisor with a real passion to deliver results in a fast paced and demanding customer facing supply chain/logistics environment? DP World are recruiting a skilled Operations Supervisor to join our established Automotive operation based in Wolverhampton. This role will work across a weekly rotating shift pattern (6am – 2:30pm Monday – Thursday and 6am – 1:30pm Friday then 2:30pm – 11pm Monday – Thursday and 1:30pm – 9pm Friday) and will see you take the lead with daily operations leading a team and delivering on our KPIs to the customer.

How you will contribute:

  • Ensure all Team Leaders and Team Members understand the need for safe working practices and adhere to the safe working methods and countermeasures that syncreon implement, i.e. Risk Assessment, safety walks, Handling Aids, and Job rotation. Lead a zero-tolerance mindset for deviation from safe working practices.
  • To successfully manage succession planning and support cross training amongst the teams to foster a multi skilled workforce culture
  • Ensure effective manpower planning is completed daily. Increase area versatility with robust training plans. Manage headcount balance between permanent and temporary labour in area. Deal with all individual performance issues within 24 hours of incident.
  • To investigate, document and take appropriate action for issues which fall under the Company’s disciplinary and grievance policy and procedure this will include AIR investigations, performance, conduct and employee disputes
  • To support HR activities, including investigations and disciplinary’s in line with the Employee Handbook
  • Develop and maintain Standard Work and Quality processes to ensure a “Right First Time” product to the customer. Ensure that all customers required quality processes are operated in line with specification, i.e. QCOS. Drive a zero-tolerance mindset for deviation from the use of quality processes to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Successfully complete Audit requirements and document control across the shift
  • Complete Supervisor Lams and monitor the completion of Team Leaders Lams
  • Investigate Customer concerns. Identify and eliminate root cause using robust countermeasures such as PPS and GLS process. Sustain the corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Implement engineering changes, production trials, model change, and pilot build in area of responsibility. Flawless execution every time, using the “Engineering Change” process.
  • To follow up with the maintenance team to ensure that team board CCAR’s are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Responsible to ensure a comprehensive shift handover is completed and briefed out to the Operations Manager. To attend shift-based meetings for example pre and post-shift meetings, engineering change reviews, board reviews and timely closure of CCAR’s.

Your Key Skills/Experience:

  • Previous Supervisory/Operations Management exposure in a JIT, sequencing, manufacturing environment is highly desirable
  • BTEC HNC desirable and or related experience in a Unionized automotive environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Prior experience in working in a customer facing Logistics/Supply chain environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage ad hoc requirements and challenges
  • Confident, articulate and driven with the ability to justify and challenge decisions/requirements
