OIRS Casework Coordinator

Job Overview: The ORR Initial Resettlement Services (OIRS) Coordinator leads a team of OIRS caseworkers to address barriers to safety and wellness for especially vulnerable ORR-eligible populations. The OIRS Coordinator will train and supervise a team who works closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service plans to meet individual client needs utilizing a broad range of financial, medical, social and other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team by providing direct supervision, case consultations, and onboarding and ongoing training
  • Train OIRS team to determine client eligibility for OIRS programming and conduct intake assessments, review program expectations, outcomes, and confidentiality with each potential client
  • Train and guide OIRS team to develop individualized, SMART Self-sufficiency plans for each client enrolled in the OIRS program.
  • Train and guide OIRS team to evaluate client progress during active program enrollment to determine the client’s progress towards goals and work with the client to identify new needs and actions needed.
  • Guide OIRS caseworkers to reach client close out within 90 days of enrollment, or provide referrals to other PC funded programs or outside providers.
  • Conduct community outreach and maintain a strong network of service providers that meet client needs. The OIRS Coordinator may also be expected to maintain a strong relationship with local and state level refugee coordinators and health coordinators to ensure client needs are met.
  • Guide staff in response to client crises.
  • Intervene in situations where staff or client safety is a concern.
  • Liaise regularly with IRC HQ for guidance, support, and information exchange.
  • Understand and track the program budget, including the tracking and spending of direct financial assistance.
  • Approve direct financial assistance at the local level.
  • Responsible for quality assurance of case files and case note documentation on a regular basis.
  • Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level.
  • May train and lead the activities of volunteers and interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or related field of study preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of case management experience with similar populations and/or client needs required.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Fluent in English required, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group preferred: Dari/Pashto/Russian/Spanish/Haitian Creole.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
