Caterpillar Australia has a fantastic opportunity for an energetic, collaborative and resourceful self-starter professional to join the underground Hard Rock Vehicles product group as a New Product Introduction (NPI) Team Lead based in Burnie, Tasmania – conveniently located with our proving ground, mechanical workshop and design centre.
In this program management role, you will lead the work of local and global team members to plan, execute and deliver new machine programs incorporating the latest technological advancements. Your communication skills will be critical to your success in this role as you work with other leaders to proactively manage risk and align to business strategies. This position is being offered as full time permanent on-going employee. The successful applicant will have flexibility with their hours and travel requirements.
About the Role

Understand customer and business requirements and what product success means. Continuously communicate these aspects to all team members through the program phases realising the product value for the end user.

Ensure program plan is well formed and regularly updated, continuously checkpoint against NPI best practices and report on scope, schedule, quality and cost performance. This includes forecasting to identify likely risks.

Facilitate collaboration across multiple disciplines, including engineering, testing and validation, compliance and safety, value chain, manufacturing, commercial and product support.

Deliver product consistent with safety, compliance, quality, schedule and financial performance targets. Proactively address deviations, understand root cause and lead corrective actions.

While not a direct supervisory position, the incumbent will work with other leaders to continuously build our people capability and positively contribute to a healthy workplace culture.

Keep up to date with industry trends, changing technology and market regulations in countries covered.

Understand Caterpillar’s business model and act within the business process guidance on review and approval for variance programs and commercial actions.
About you:
-
Solid experience in product and program management with relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. a bachelor’s degree in engineering/business.
-
Through your example and daily interactions, you reinforce a positive workplace culture fostering trust, resilience, clarity in communications and teamwork.

Professional with stand-out interpersonal skills including negotiation and influence, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills, resilience and clear decision-making.

Solid program management skills and an ability to coordinate multiple projects to meet competing deadlines.

Experience in one or more of the following product engineering, configuration management, test and validation, supply chain management, product lifecycle management, product support, quality management.

An ability to work with many different stakeholders in varying functional, geolocations and seniority levels
-
Experience in electrical, mechanical or mining engineering is highly desirable.
