We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead our dedicated team of multi-trade operatives across the London region, and supporting a wider Directorate nationally, ensuring Southern Housing provides a comprehensive, efficient and responsive property repairs service.The primary focus is to provide a high-quality responsive maintenance service for all our residents, internal colleagues, and external partners; managing repairs effectively from inception to completion with final quality assurance; whilst meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements. You will need to create a clear, safe, value for money structure, methodical approach, and supportive environment in which our operatives are able to thrive.Duties include:

  • Day-to-day line management of a team of operatives, covering a multitude of trades.
  • Management of all associated workstreams, productivity, and value for money.
  • Monitoring, Training, and Promotion of safe working practices.
  • Fleet, Equipment, and Materials management ( stock control, maintenance, and safety ).
  • Resident liaison, including stage 1 complaint handling and escalation when required.

What you’ll need

  • Ideally, you’ll have worked for a Housing Association, House Builder, Local Authority or Construction contractor in a similar role as a Site Supervisor, Site Manager or Foreperson.
  • Excellent leadership skills to create a culture adopting our values, to inspire, motivate and develop staff at all levels; building cohesive and motivated teams who are committed to our vision and goals.
  • You’ll have a blended management style, supporting our operatives & residents, promoting self-awareness and a genuine commitment to improve services.
  • You’ll be able to make sound judgements, find solutions to complex issues and problems, and identify and manage risk.
  • The role will work with a range of residents and colleagues, so a positive approach to collaborative team working is essential.
  • A full clean UK Driving licence is essential for this role.

The role is both site and office based, out of our Hub at The Tramsheds in Croydon. We envisage the successful applicant working 40 hours, 08:00 – 17:00, Monday through Friday. There will also be a requirement to plan, schedule and cover out of hours. As this role requires you to travel across London and on occasion into other regions you will be supplied with a Southern Housing vehicle.Closing Date: 14th July 2024 at 23:59Please note, we reserve the right to close the advert early if we receive a sufficient number of applications.
