You support a multi-functional team in developing and deliver solutions required to maintain continued supply of Johnson and Johnson innovative medicines. The position primarily supports the Life Cycle Management (LCM) portfolio by planing and performing lab-based activities in support of ongoing manufacturing as well as to tackle manufacturing issues.You will be working in the lab in close collaboration with the process chemists and with the MSAT Innovation and technology department, R&D, quality and our external network.You will have technical leadership and support responsibilities throughout the product life cycle::

  • Provide chemical engineering expertise
  • leverage the collaboration with multiple partners to improve robustness of existing processes and assess them for their cost-improvement potential
  • develop, plan, and complete lab-based activities, mimicking full scale process performance, performing root cause analysis experiments, use-tests, or reprocess testing/development.
  • transfer sophisticated processes, manufacturing technologies, analytical technologies to multiple sites and other laboratories.
  • evaluate process and process analytical technology (PAT) data to define experimental activities to understand and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Lead or support process capability and quality improvement efforts on new or marketed products.

QualificationsYoushould have excellent chemical engineering knowledge and the necessary laboratory skills with emphasis on:

  • Evaluation of single unit operations
  • Mixing assessment
  • Solid liquid separations and drying
  • Use of modelling tools (e.g. Aspen, Chemcad, Dynochem, Ansys, Python, Matlab)
  • familiar with analytical technologies (e.g. GC, MS, HPLC) and PAT like FTIR, FBRM, Raman Spectroscopy
  • use of statistical methods and statistical process control.
  • Technical writing for the generation of technical reports
  • Use of electronic lab notebook systems and instrument logbooks
  • experience with document control systems and change control systems is helpful or the willingness to learn
  • Understanding of good manufacturing practice (GMP).
  • Ability to seek out and engage with various partners both globally and on-site.
  • Holds a PhD in chemical engineering or possesses equivalent experience, preferably with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Familiarity with Dynochem, Microsoft Office, Minitab, Lab Note book is preffered
