Job description

Our client, a digital technology and innovation Centre in Sligo Town is seeking to recruit an MES Engineer to join their team on a temporary, 3 year contract.Responsibilities:As an MES Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Engaging directly with and advising clients on elements of digitalisation they are considering implementing.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the ISA95 tech stack and providing expert guidance on it, including understanding the functionality at each layer, the data transmission between layers, and its application within various industries, particularly SMEs.
  • Assessing and recommending appropriate digitalisation technologies for SMEs, considering their specific needs and the relevant vendor network.
  • Leading the deployment of showcase technologies within the Centre, with a focus on AI applications in manufacturing.
  • Identifying and developing feasible AI use cases in manufacturing to demonstrate the benefits of digitalisation.
  • Collaborating closely with international partners on project initiatives aimed at supporting SMEs in the areas of data and AI.
  • Participating in initiatives designed to foster innovation and technology adoption among SMEs.
  • Traveling to client sites within Ireland to provide on-site consultation and support, as well as attending relevant events and partner meetings across Europe to stay informed about industry trends and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
  • Staying updated on the latest advancements in digitalisation and AI technologies to provide cutting-edge solutions and recommendations to clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in a controls or industrial data discipline, or significant working knowledge from industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the architecture design of SCADA/MES systems and their integration and a minimum of 1 year direct client engagement on such projects.
  • Good understanding of Industry 4.0, 5.0, OPC UA, MQTT, and data acquisition from IoT devices, PLCs, and other sources.
  • Experience in developing UIs, such as HMIs, apps, or other interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of data storage options, including historians, SQL, and time series databases.
  • Understanding of validation requirements within the life sciences space, such as 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA, and CSA.
