Membership and Youth Organiser
We are hiring a Membership and Youth Organiser, to be based in Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in politics, who wishes to change Irish society for the better, and to develop their skills and experience in Irish public life. Working as part of a small but effective team, reporting to the General Secretary, the Membership and Youth Organiser is responsible for promoting and developing campaigns with particular emphasis on young people and women. Title Membership and Youth Organiser Reports to General Secretary Location Labour Party Head office Job purpose The Membership and Youth Organiser is responsible for ensuring the membership of the Party is supported, organised, active and recruiting with particular emphasis on young people and women. Key responsibilities Contributing to the growth of the membership base through the active recruitment of new members at constituency and branch level. Focussing in particular on women and young people. Delivering ground plans developed by the National Organiser as well as contributing to the delivery of Labour Party Strategies at constituency and branch level. Gathering information on political developments at local and constituency level. Supporting Labour Youth and Labour Women in their campaigns and outreach events. Distributing information from Labour Head Office to constituencies and branches, and acting as an information conduit between both. Other responsibilities as specified by the General Secretary. Essential skills and experience A deep understanding of, and commitment to, Labour Party principles, values and policies and an extensive understanding of the Irish political landscape. Campaigning experience, particularly in relation to electoral campaigns. Experience with digital campaigning and experience using Engaging Networks. Training in the Ganz model of community organising Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills, personal resilience and the ability to work as part of a team, under pressure and achieving targets within a given deadline. Capacity to exercise judgement, discretion and initiative within a politically sensitive environment. A flexible approach to working outside of regular hours at required times.
