Medical Affairs is a function primarily tasked with engaging and collaborating with healthcare professionals and professional bodies to facilitate a medical and scientific bridge between Pfizer and the healthcare community.Pfizer Anti-Infectives is a dynamic and highly diverse business with unique opportunities for growth. - Bringing critical anti-infective options to patients and physicians
- Leveraging our expertise and capabilities and working closely with the infectious disease community to address antimicrobial resistance through dynamic stewardship, global policy leadership and innovative surveillance tools
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?You will have the opportunity to work with and assist the medical affairs team on various projects aimed at educating and empowering healthcare professionals and others on the value of anti-infectives, the importance of Antimicrobial Stewardship and tackling Antimicrobial Resistance.You will develop a multitude of skills including:
- Communication and interpersonal skills through liaising with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Organisational and project management skills through working on a variety of projects/ taking ownership of projects that align with the medical strategy
- Presentation skills by discussing your work at meetings
- Teamwork skills through cross-functional ways of working

- Involvement in medical team projects across the Hospital & Established Portfolio, working with other cross-functional teams when appropriate. This will include planning and delivering educational projects for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Helping the medical team to stay abreast of relevant published literature and developments in the anti-infective therapy area, by reviewing and summarising key information.
- Working with the medical team to align activities in order to appropriately comply with the pharmaceutical industry (ABPI) Code of Practice and other compliance-related processes.
- Assist the medical team with key projects and deliverables aligned with the medical strategy. For instance, this may include projects relating to data analysis and presentation, or developing innovative antimicrobial resistance educational offerings for the healthcare community.

For instance, this may involve collaborating with other trainees and colleagues in various projects; previous students have worked with Marketing, Commercial, Corporate Affairs and Global teams on educational projects, and also developing skills in medical writing, data analysis and communicating complex scientific data. You will also get opportunities to attend conferences, meetings, and training in relation to the projects that you work on.Pfizer also provide a number of volunteering days to be used each year, and this is a great way to do something as a team, but also give back to the community. The undergraduate will help to arrange suitable volunteering opportunities for their team.When can I start?Placements will start on 1st September 2025 and will run for 12 months.PERSON SPECIFICATIONType of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:
- Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year
- On target for a Degree Classification in a health or science-related field
- Able and self-assured to challenge the status quo
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to use initiative and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong Math and English skills
- Self-assurance to liaise with Pfizer personnel at all levels
- Ability to generate creative and innovative ideas
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tenacity, and the ability to influence others
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
