Job Summary:

As Mechanical Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to find work scope and cost estimates for a project’s mechanical aspects.

You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes.

Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s mechanical aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​

• Participates in the design, development and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​

• Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines​

• Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​

• Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals

• Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards​

• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software.

• Experience in the design and specification of bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects

• Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks

• Analytical problem-solving capabilities

• Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
